What you need
A laptop, a tablet, or a computer plugged into the TV, a webcam, and about 2-3 metres of clear space. Works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. Nothing to install.
Questions parents ask
Is it really free?
Yes. Every game, every rank, every medal — no payment. There is nothing to buy. A guest plays everything except the Moon Temple, which opens with a parent account — also free.
Is my child being recorded?
No. The camera image is processed inside your own browser and is never uploaded. There is no server that could store it, and nothing is kept when you close the tab.
What age is it for?
Ages 4 to 14. Every game has four ranks: Rookie is very forgiving, built for a four-year-old; Pro and Legend step it up; Master is faster and tighter, made to push a 12- to 14-year-old. In a two-player round each kid picks their own rank, so a 4-year-old on Rookie and an 11-year-old on Master play the same round together. A round at a higher rank earns a better medal — bronze, silver, gold, platinum. Points are never deducted, and two players share one score instead of competing.
Is it like Kinect or Just Dance?
Same idea, no hardware. A Kinect or a console watched your body with a sensor of its own; here the webcam you already have does it, inside the browser. Nothing to buy, no dance video to follow — the games are built for kids, and the camera image stays on your device.
Is it real exercise for kids?
Yes — it is a kids workout dressed up as a game. A round is a minute of jumping, squatting, marching, stretching, balancing or punching the air, the moves a PE lesson is made of, and a kid who stops moving stops scoring. No equipment, no gym, no sport to sign up for: a few rounds on a rainy afternoon is real indoor exercise for kids, at home.
Guides for parents and teachers
What is Hopla?
Hopla Ninja Academy is a free website of 35 movement games for kids aged 4 to 14, where the webcam is the controller: the child jumps, ducks, marches and stretches, and the game answers.
Kinect games without a Kinect
The camera on the laptop you already own is enough. No console, no sensor bar, nothing to buy.
Brain break games for the classroom
Point the webcam at the front of the room, put the game on the projector, and the next two minutes take care of themselves.
A GoNoodle alternative that watches the kid move
No account, no video to follow along with — the webcam is the controller, and a kid who stops moving stops scoring.
Like Just Dance, free, with no console
No choreography and no chart hits. If your kid wants to jump around to music and have the screen answer back, a webcam does that now, for nothing.
Exercise games for kids, free, on a webcam
A minute of jumping, squatting and marching that a kid asks for again. No equipment, no gym, no account.
Indoor active games for kids
Rain, winter, a small flat: the webcam on the laptop and two metres of floor are enough to burn the energy off.
A kids workout that watches back
Not another kids workout video to copy along with. The webcam sees the kid, and the game only moves when they do.
Warm-up exercises for kids: a five-minute routine
Five games, one minute each, in an order that starts gentle and ends ready to run. For a PE lesson, a training session or the living room.
Brain activation exercises for kids, as games
Exercises where the body cannot get it right unless the head is paying attention: remember the order, wait for the right word, make the shape in time.
Breathing exercises for kids: a calm-down routine
One game here asks for a slow breath; a few others ask the body to go still. Put together after active play, that is a five-minute calm-down.
