A GoNoodle alternative that watches the kid move

No account, no video to follow along with — the webcam is the controller, and a kid who stops moving stops scoring.

GoNoodle is the default movement break in a lot of classrooms and living rooms, and the reason people go looking for an alternative is usually one of two things: it needs an account to get past the front door, and it is a video. A video asks the kids to move. Half of them do, the other half watch the screen, and there is no way for the video to tell the difference.

Hopla takes the other route. The webcam on the laptop or tablet sees the kid, and the game responds to what the body actually does — jump and the character clears the bar, march and the climb goes up, stop and it stops. There is no login to get past: open the site, allow the camera, stand back, play. A parent account is optional, free, and only carries progress between devices and opens the Moon Temple. It works in Chrome, Edge and Safari, on a laptop, a tablet on a shelf, or a computer plugged into the TV.

On privacy, which is the question every teacher and most parents ask first: the camera image is processed inside the browser on that device and never uploaded or stored. There is no server receiving it and no recording. Close the tab and nothing is left.

The games are built for kids from 4 to 14, 35 of them, each with four ranks. Rookie is very forgiving for a preschooler; Master will tire a fourteen-year-old. Two kids can play side by side, each on their own rank, sharing one score, and points are never taken away — so a movement break stays a break and never turns into a contest. Every game is free, all of it, with nothing to buy — the Moon Temple opens on its own once twenty games have a best score.
